𝗔𝗟𝗣𝗛𝗔 𝗨𝗣𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗥𝗘𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗦𝗘

A new series enters the Fakewhale ALPHA program. ICONS 6:12 by Scerbo × Fakewhale Studio arrives on September 30, 2026, presented with Verse: three hundred unique generative 1/1 works.

ICONS 6:12 emerged over the course of the 2025 Fakewhale Digital Residency through the shared authorship of SCERBO × FAKEWHALE STUDIO, born from a sustained exchange between Scerbo’s photographic practice and the Studio’s generative environment. The duration of that exchange matters because the photographs arrived already bound to people and histories that preceded the file, while the systems through which they passed operated at another scale, moving at the impersonal speed of computation. Over the months, the work held open the unresolved interval between those temporalities, carrying the density of lived relations into a process capable of multiplying and redistributing their image.

That interval extends a concern already active in Anti-crash, where Scerbo worked on the alpha channel as a threshold of presence within the image, and draws with equal force on Fakewhale Studio’s practice of bringing generative systems into installations and technical environments as artistic material. In ICONS, these two lineages meet within a single authorship and enter a historical condition in which the body’s image can be extended, circulated and transformed faster than lived experience can absorb its consequences. Fracture emerges from the pressure the two practices exert on one another, carrying the body through forms of visibility whose reach keeps expanding while the relations held by the photograph retain their own duration.

Across three hundred works, the whole exceeds every single image, and meaning shifts as one position enters proximity with another. This scale places the project within the long history of the icon, whose force has long depended on the passage between material presence and an order that exceeds it. Under contemporary conditions, that passage runs through capture, circulation and computational exchange; ICONS keeps it open, allowing devotion and technical order to remain bound to the same surface while the body persists as the material through which each continues to acquire form.
